What pencil do you use?
It is the black Stabilo All pencil. Stabilo is the brand. All is the pencil type within the brand. I call it the Magic Pencil.
My favorite sharpener is the Alvin Brass Bullet.
Why don't you use a heat tool?
Two main reasons. First, acrylic paint is plastic and I don't believe in heating plastic, especially when you are in close proximity to it. Second, spending the time to heat something dry is a waste of creative energy. Set aside your work and let it dry, and do something else while it is drying.
Where do I buy your products?
Check the pinned post on my Art of Dina Wakley Facebook page. Independents stores who are willing to ship have commented there. There are many online-based stores that carry them, also.
What is that stapler you use?
It is the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I also love his Tonic scissors, the medium size.
Do you gesso the paper in your journals?
Yes, most of the time. I like the way acrylic paint works on gesso. It flows better. It's a better color. It seals the paper. If you don't like what you've done, and your paint is still wet, you can wipe it off if you've used gesso. People often wonder why I bother to gesso watercolor paper. Well, I'm not watercoloring on it. I am using acrylic, and I prefer the way acrylic acts on gesso. I use watercolor paper because it stands up to all of the wet media I am throwing onto it.
Why didn't you respond to my question/comment on YouTube?
To avoid the inevitable YT meanies, I don't read comments there at all. Feel free to email me if you have a question.

We did broadcast this demo in landscape mode, but for some reason it saved in portrait mode. As a result, some of the view is cut off. Hope you can still get some ideas from it. Sorry about that.

Howdy! FYI, I am having a hard time getting videos uploaded to YouTube right now. I did a Google search and it looks like others are having the same problem. The videos upload but get stuck in processing. I will keep trying, but wanted to give you an update.
Remember you can watch all the videos on my Art of Dina Wakley Facebook Page, under the Videos section.
I'm adding a picture....just because a post without a picture is sorta boring. ha.

Howdy....same video as before, but with the marbling bit that I did first cut out. People were having a hard time finding this, so this should make it easier.

Keep creating, my friends. Creating art will help us get through this crisis. We love seeing your work.
A Year of Gratitude Challenge 8
To read more about the power of gratitude, visit my original blog post here.
How To Participate
The Eighth Prompt
I am grateful for community. The COVID-19 crisis is bombarding us from all sides. A light in the darkness of the pandemic is community. We are coming together via texts, social media, Zoom, random acts of kindness, and more. I love what I am seeing in the art community as people share and encourage.
Quick description of what I did:
Make a quick painted background with a few strokes of Magenta, Lemon, and Turquoise paints. Stamp the girl from the stamp set multiple times on white cardstock and on old book paper. Cut out. Paint some sticky back canvas with circles of Night paint. Cut into strips. Paint some cheddar dots onto a sheet of plain collage tissue. Use the stamped images, strips of sticky back canvas, and torn pieces of the plain collage tissue to create a layered collage. Glue pieces with Ultrathick Gel Medium. Add journaling with the Fudeball pen.
Challenge Rules Recap
I want to put the “me” back in mixed media. All art is personal, whether it be a card or an art journal page or a painting. Join me as we begin a series of monthly challenges and prompts that will fuel your creative spirit and help you delve into the ME of MEdia.
Note this challenge does not take the place of the monthly challenges we have in the Dina Wakley Media Tribe Facebook group. If you're not a member of the tribe, please join us! Artists in the group post lots of cool art and inspiration.
