I started art journaling back in 2005. There was a small community of artists who were sharing their journals then, and I was insecure and still figuring out my artistic voice.
Here are some of my pages from that year:
I love to look back at my first couple of journals. I have changed and grown so much since then, but I still love my first pages. They are authentic to that moment...and they were the beginning of an amazing art journey.

Wow...so different, soft and subtle...but still so beautiful. The evolution is amazing. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your handsome boys. :)

Your pages are haunting. You still use your image often, I think.

That's how I feel! A poser. Unschooled. But I have this drive to create something! Wow, thanks for sharing this!

I love these early pages too, but boy, has your style changed and developed! Thanks for sharing your early art.

Kinda like my first scrapbooks. My style has changed and evolved over the 20+ years I've scrapped. Don't scrap so much now, so I journal instead. Someday I will look back on my art journals with the same feelings as my early scrapbooks. But we have to change and evolve!

I think it would be great to see an exhibit of art journal progressions, which of course, would include yours! Plus a little narrative timeline which would give some insight into how events effect artists' voices/styles.

that's what's great about keeping a journal, these recordings of moments that may or not still be applicable. :)
