I'm up to my ears with packing kits...even bribing my fellas to help (hee hee). Just wanted to share some peeks of the projects I'll be teaching in Harrogate at Art From the Heart, in Southampton at Scrap-A-Mia, and in Madrid at Bambola Casa Creativa. :)
Art From the Heart
Plus an artsy little make & take that I'm keeping a secret :)
1. Gesso your surface and let it dry. Mine is my art journal (a watercolor Moleskine).
2. Spray some Wild Plum (or Purple Twilight) Adirondack ink onto your surface. Be generous with the ink...you want a lot of pigment there.
3. Take a wet paintbrush and move the ink around the page. You could even dilute it a bit and let the ink run like I did.
4. Let the purple ink dry completely.
5. Grab your Butterscotch ink and a calligraphy dip pen. Dip the pen in the Butterscotch ink and tap off excess. Write with the pen & ink right over the dried purple area. As the Butterscotch ink dries, it takes on a glowy quality that looks so cool!
6. Grab a stencil and your Butterscotch ink and add some stenciling (spray, and blot with one pass of a roll of paper towels). Cool, eh?
This will be a background for a future art journal page. I just love the way the Butterscotch ink interacts with the Wild Plum ink...stunning! Let me know if you try it!
I just wanted so share where I'll be teaching...come and art with me! :)
I'll be at the amazing Whim-So-Doodle in St. Petersburg, Fl on June 10th, 11th, and 12th. I will be teaching three classes...details on the classes will be up soon!I had a fabulous time teaching there when I went in March...can't wait to go back!
I'll be teaching at the Maya Road Artistic Journey event this year...way excited! It is Sept 30-Oct 2, 2011, hosted by the awesome Crafty Scrapper. I've been building some fun art houses...so fun to do with collage scraps. I learned how to do the houses & windows like this from the "Towers and Turrets" class by Sharon Tomlinson. I never did do the jewelry portion of that class before the materials were taken down...I'm a procrastinator (actually, I was just too busy to do it...too many deadlines....need to simplify!).
Had so much fun at our mixed media group last night...so fun to get together with kindred art spirits! We had two special guests last night...the amazing and inspiring Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is in town for NAMTA, so she came and it was so fun to hang with her. We chatted about art and balance and teaching and trying to juggle it all. The super-cute Jaime also came...she owns the amazing Crafter's Workshop (such fab stencils & templates). We arted with so many talented gals: Samantha Kira, Penney, April, Kay, Karla, Julie K, Krista, and Tina.
Here's the first layout from Pink Ninjas...don't you love that unicorn pegacorn cabochon? [Thanks to the sweet Maddie for letting me know it's a pegacorn!!]
I'm a guest this month for Pink Ninja Scrapbook Kit club with the "Wonderful Life" kit...look for my layouts soon! For those of you who have boys, you'll have to check back...the kit had lots of pretty Easter colors, and I used pictures of my fellas with PINK!
I have four art journal pages going right now...waiting for paint to dry. :) When I start a page, I never know how it will end. I never have a plan about what I will do next. I just put the paint on the paper and see what happens. Then the paint tells me what to do next.
Well, last Friday I officially finished a 3-month long assignment and got it shipped off...all 32 lbs of it! What a relief that is! Now I am set to focus on my classes at Art from the Heart in the UK, at Scrap-a-Mia in the UK, and at Bambola in Madrid. I love traveling. I love teaching. So fun!
