I'm still on vacation & not doing much more than eating, sleeping, and managing my kids' domestic disputes.
The mountains here are so gorgeous. When you live here you take them for granted. You get used to their presence...you don't even think about them. Then you move away and you feel a general malaise that you can't identify...and you come back to visit and realize it's the mountains...or rather, the absence of mountains...that's making you feel a bit off-center. Mountain malaise.
I was thinking about when I first discovered art. I'd been scrapbooking for a bit (and not doing it terribly well, but hey, none of us were doing it well in 1996). I stumbled into an art stamping store in Phoenix called Stampotique. The owner, Carol, could tell I looked confused & bewildered, so she gently suggested that I take a beginning stamping class. I signed up & left the store without making a purchase. Over the next year I hung out in Carol's store a lot...and we became friends. She's wonderful, her store is wonderful, and their stamp lines are wonderful. Thanks, Carol, for helping me on my artful journey!
